Hello and welcome to the ChookChasers website. Now you ask, “What is ChookChasers all about?" Well, it's a site specifically for dirt bikes of the older, more vintage variety. These trailie, motocross, ag-bikes, paddock-bashers and of course chookchasers that are ridden by 'Average Joes' doing things in the dirt!

You say: “But, I don't want to read about old bikes or ride them, cause they're crappy. I want Chad Reed's bike!” Yeah, great idea...

Hooter's mighty Aggy - this model had a shovel holder!

But can you afford it? - maybe through Harvey Norman Finance (adding to the ever-growing debt in Australia)

Can you ride like Chad Reed?
-If yes, then you don't need to buy one, as the Race Team will supply you with one won't they... if you're that good?
-If no...Well, then keep those pictures on the bedroom wall because in time you'll become like us and want to ride the older bikes, like Chad's when he was in his prime.

As we said, the site is about average Joes riding chookies in the dirt.

Did you know?

The term “chookchaser” or “chooky” was used frequently in the 70's to reference to a smallish form of dirtbike in Australia.

chook chaser
n Austral derogatory slang.
1. (Individual Sports, other than specified) a small motorcycle, esp for off-road use.
2. (Individual Sports, other than specified) a person who rides such a motorcycle.

This site is mainly for general riders who love to get out on their old bikes and go for a blast, enjoying the company of other chookchaser enthusiasts. There are no experts here! However, you will find info on bikes, e.g. trail tests from old magazines and so on, as well as current test rides on bikes by chooky riders associated with this site to give you an insight into bikes that are 2nd-hand and of the older type - being the 70's & 80's at the moment. But those young fellows who have just left their mother's groin shouldn't underestimate the vintage chookchasers and think they are weak and feeble. Some of these old girls can move and in the right hands can stay right up there with the modern bikes in terms of power and speed. One more thing: complexity is non-existant with these machines.

At the moment the site will be updated as much as we can but with work and life demanding things, we can't do everything. Also the creators of the site very few, so it will take time, but we hope to build the content in the future.

If you get the chance, please go check out the story Conongrail! - the plight of two Gumby riders going to an event and racing against other bike enthusiasts.
